Optimeyes is a partnership between the RNIB and six local organisations in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire which are helping to identify those at risk of sight loss by
raising awareness of eye health and prevention.
It aims to build the confidence and skills of blind and partially sighted people and develop peer support groups to reduce feelings of isolation.
Fire and Rescue services in this area also have a unique role through their fire safety checks carried out in people’s homes, as it means technicians can use the
opportunity to have an informal chat about eye health and the benefits of eye care.
Optimeyes is a Reaching Communities Lottery funded project and DMSS is providing evaluation support.
